Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Conclusion

Hey everyone!

Phew, I'm glad you stayed with me throughout this whole project! I didn't anticipate it being that extensive, but I enjoyed writing and comparing the different shows. I hope you enjoyed reading it, but let me have a final say to wrap things up with my favorite turtles.

I know you may have wondered what the whole point was of doing my comparison. To be honest, when I first started it, I wasn't quite sure. All I knew was that there were some interesting differences and similarities between these shows.

Like I said earlier, I saw that the 2012 series had an interesting blend of elements from the 1987 and 2003 series. I guess I wanted to point out that the 2012 series is possibly learning from the mistakes of the previous series. At the very least, the 2012 series is focused on the characters and developing them more.

And yet, as I kept comparing, I noticed something else. No one show is necessarily better than the others. Each show has its strengths and weaknesses: TMNT 1987 has a fun, campy tone and humor, but lacks in animation and character development; TMNT 2003 shows off its complex plot and characters, but falls a little flat on some of the dramatic moments; TMNT 2012 has fantastic animation and character interaction, but sometimes uses cheap humor. What I saw was that it's hard for me to say which series would be considered the best Ninja Turtle cartoon. And that's a good thing!

The reason I think this is important is that fans will often be at each other's throats over which show is the best. Some say one show is the best, others say it sucks and that a different one is the best, etc.

However, I think it's less about whether or not a show is good and more about which show a fan grew up with. I've found that a TMNT fan tends to cling to their childhood show, convinced that it is the only good TMNT show. It's kind of like watching that old movie that you loved as a kid and being convinced that it's still the best movie ever. But that probably isn't the case, and it's more likely a nostalgic factor.

And I'm no exception to this phenomenon. I used to be one of those people that was sure the series I grew up with (TMNT 2003) was definitely the best. But now, looking at these different shows, I've realized that each show is its own great thing.

While I'll still love the 2003 series, I've come to appreciate and enjoy the other versions of TMNT. If I had stuck to my resolve that my show was the only one to watch, I would've missed out on some great moments, like the 1987 shredder's antics, or 2012 Donnie getting beat up by a monkey, or 2012 Mikey break dancing.

So my point of this whole analysis and comparison is that it doesn't matter which show we TMNT fans end up loving the most; the point is that we all love those four crazy ninja turtles and we all love the insane and entertaining antics that follow them.

So no matter what version you love the best, show your TMNT love with pride! Well, that's it for this TMNT project. I hope you guys had as much fun as I did!

Until later, folks!
